Via the popular NFT platform, Jcard’s MetaCulture, this joint venture presents this unique work of art by utilizing blockchain technology’s strengths of high-security and uniquely identifiable authenticity.
Presenting the “Early Qing Dynasty Imperial Palace Tang Yang” (scaled diorama) NFT encompassing a meticulously detailed 3D reconstruction viewable in 360 degrees, capturing highly detailed carpentry, paint, and the various hand-made components of a one-of-a-kind antique.
Tang Yang is the ancient China’s equivalent of a modern scaled model, typically used during the design and construction of a building of importance, embodies the techniques and styles of Chinese architectural history and is an important part of the Chinese culture. Apart from being used during the construction of the actual building, these scale models are also used to obtain the imperial seal of approval from the emperors, furthering their historical and cultural significance. Often built with incredible level of intricacy and sparing no cost in its construction, the Tang Yang models are typically made only for the imperial palace buildings or buildings of high significances, having its roots dated back to the Han Dynasty.
According to history, the only known craftsmen of the Tang Yang can be traced back to the Lei family, during the Qing Dynasty. A house of seven generations of Tang Yang craftsmen, from early Kangxi period to the late Qing era, the Lei house have presided over the design and constructions of these official building dioramas for the imperial palace, marketing their name in this important part of the Chinese history.
After centuries of evolution, we are now able to present the intricate craftsmanship via 3D rendering, showcasing the artwork with a new light. Through the latest in technology, viewers are able to experience it through a different perspective, without the burdens of maintaining this large and delicate wooden model, while owning a piece of the history.
Through this exclusive and extremely limited publishing of the “Early Qing Dynasty Tang Yang” in an NFT format, we hope to preserve the cultural heritage through the latest technology. Never before seen, Taipei Tokyo Central MuChunTang Auction also presents the buyer of the NFT with a lifetime waiver of commissions when purchasing other items at its future auctions.
