From the artist’s Energy series, 2013. This is a piece centered around figure-ground concepts. The beautiful moment at which plants and leaves reach peak maturity is comparable to the apex of each and every human life. CHUNG’s artistry continued to develop after his retirement from teaching. Through the use of sharply contrasting figure-ground imagery, he highlights the colorful and transformative life energy of flora, which is analogous to the boundless, diverse spectrum of human experience.
