Kandelia and Fiddler Crabs

Mangrove kandelia and fiddler crabs are often seen in the coastal intertidal wetlands of Taiwan. The kandelia is a small evergreen tree, and its seedings resemble hanging pens. From the flowering and budding of the kandelia to the peculiar process of growth, it can experience its ingenious way of living in the harsh environment of the estuary swamp. The viviparity phenomenon is that the fruit does not fall off immediately before maturity, but continues to stay on the mother plant, absorbs nutrients, and grows and germinates, and the seedling grows on the soft soil into a pen shape. At present, there are twelve different species of fiddler crabs in Taiwan. The biggest feature is that the male crabs have a pair of claws that differ greatly in size and move their claws like they are calling for the tide, hence the name. This action is to intimidate the enemy, or courtship with a big claw.
